Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol

Wes Shoemyer with UM-Columbia
student Felicity Jo Cunningham

Students displayed their research projects in poster sessions in the Capitol rotunda and discussed their research and information about their educational experiences and opportunities.

This year 41 students from all four campuses worked with faculty mentors from departments including animal sciences, biochemistry, engineering, nursing, social work, and many others.

Research topics ranged from "Searching for more reliable power grids" to "Using pets to reduce stress" and the "Benefits of soil bacteria for soybean growth."

Students also visited with legislators from their home districts and were introduced on the floor of both the House and the Senate.
