Training is in full swing across all of the campuses. The campus budget officers have conducted 27 auditorium and computer lab style training sessions with approximately 390 university employees receiving training. Campus budget officers will reconvene in Columbia on September 10 where one of the agenda items will include a round table on lessons learned while conducting training.
In addition to delivering training, the campus budget officers have been assisting the COMPASS project team with training material preparation. Recently, the comprehensive Hyperion FIN–Planner training materials were made available to all users.
The next steps in the training arena will be to prepare for Long Range Planning (LRP) user testing and develop the training plan for Human Capital Planning (HCP).
On August 24, project members previewed the Long Range Planning (LRP) portion of Hyperion. Used to calculate trends and create reports using past actuals and current budget year data to estimate a 3-5 year forecast, LRP is expected to be available to the first round of end users by the end of October. Training will follow in early November. This is an exciting milestone in the COMPASS project! It is another step towards realizing the tools that will enable us to be more productive and more successful in our day-to-day work.
Initially, Hyperion-LRP will only be used by a pilot group which includes personnel on the Columbia campus.
Look for the next issue of COMPASS Roadmap Monthly for an in-depth profile of LRP.
COMPASS Milestones/Project Update
This issue’s list of milestones focuses on an overall project update. The following are some highlights that were shared with the Project Governance Committee:
- Work is on track for both LRP and HCP. The applications and accompanying reports are planned to be available to end users by early November and early December, respectively. Training for HCP, which will coincide with Budget Development training, will start in late January 2013 for a pilot group of users.
- The LRP application is being finalized in the development instance of Hyperion. A copy of the application has been moved to a test environment and project team members have begun testing functionality this week
