Monthly Updates

December 2012

Time is flying by and the COMPASS project is in full swing. In this, your fifth installment of COMPASS Roadmap Monthly, we are going to provide you some additional information about COMPASS Data Warehouse.

What is COMPASS Data Warehouse?

COMPASSCOMPASS Data Warehouse is one of the main pillars of the COMPASS project. The other two original pillars were Hyperion and Commitment Accounting. Hyperion, we have explained in detail in previous issues of the monthly newsletter. Here, we hope to describe COMPASS Data Warehouse in greater detail and explain how it fits into the overall COMPASS project.

COMPASS Data Warehouse is a data and reporting architecture containing data from the Human Resources, Finance, and Student PeopleSoft systems, as well as the Hyperion system. The goal of this aspect of the COMPASS project is to provide a repository from which reports can be created to answer strategic, managerial, and operational questions to better manage the University system, campus, and departmental resources.

COMPASS Data Warehouse will address a number of strategic questions that were originally identified as part of the goals for COMPASS. In addition, by leveraging the data power of Hyperion along with HR and Finance data joined within COMPASS Data Warehouse, the current need for implementing the Commitment Accounting module has been eliminated.

Hyperion-HCP User Acceptance Testing Complete!

Members of the Hyperion-HCP pilot group reached a huge milestone this week with the completion of Hyperion-HCP user acceptance testing. Four sessions were conducted over the course of a three week period and issues were identified and recorded. The feedback on those issues is critical to ensuring we are developing a valuable application.

Over the next few weeks, the COMPASS project team will work to resolve the issues and members of the user acceptance group will retest some of those fixes as well as go through new test scripts that will validate additional functionality. This is all an essential part of an implementation as well as important preparation for Hyperion-HCP training.

The COMPASS project team would also like to wish you and yours a safe and happy holiday season!

happy holidays
