Data Warehouse Takes Shape
The project plan for COMPASS also includes building a robust data warehouse to combine and report key data from Hyperion, PeopleSoft HR and PeopleSoft Financials. In February, the design phase of the data warehouse (DW) was completed and specifications for the warehouse were turned over to the DW team. The next step is to begin crafting the reports that will be generated by the warehouse. The goal is to complete phase one of the DW by July 2013.
HCP Survey Results Are In
The COMPASS project team distributed a Hyperion-HCP survey earlier this year to a sub-set of employees who currently manage budgets. There was a very good response to the survey (73% response rate). The responses helped the project team to establish a baseline to which it will be able to compare results after HCP is fully implemented. In addition, the feedback is helping the team to identify possible enhancements to the HCP application. Some of the key survey findings are:
- 85% of respondents are already budgeting by position/employee.
- Respondents reported they are currently using many different tools and processes to budget by position/employee.
- Most respondents have time and tools to access data, but less time to analyze that data.
Overall, the survey indicates a clear need for HCP. The challenge for the implementation team will be to continue to deliver a robust tool that meets the needs of end users. The HCP pilot puts us well on our way to achieving this goal.
