Resources for those enrolled in Coventry

The Breathe Smoking Cessation Program allows Coventry members FREE online digital health coaching. For online access, log in by choosing "My Online Services" on the Coventry Health Care webpage for the University of Missouri. Once you have logged in, navigate to the Wellness Tools option. 

Smoking Cessation Medications
Selected smoking cessation medications are available through the UM prescription drug program with a prescription from your physician. Contact your physician or ExpressScripts Customer Service at 1-800-955-1201 for more information. Covered medications include:

  • Buproprion SR (generic)-formulary
  • Chantix-formulary

  • The Phoenix Program offers evidence-based smoking cessation programs. New classes start every month, and include 8 sessions (materials provided) with group support before, during and after your quit-date. To register, click here or call (573)875-8880 Ext. 2123 
  • Columbia Boone County Health Department offers FREE screenings and nicotine replacement therapy. Call for information at (573) 874-7356.
  • Wellness Resource Center ( offers free nicotine replacement therapy patches, access to one-on-one counseling, assistance in developing a personalized quit plan and peer support.

Kansas City

  • UMKC Employee Assistance Program. Call 816-931-3073 or 1-800-327-1223.
  • The Independence Health Department offers a Freedom from Smoking class for 6 weeks for free. To register call (816) 325-7185.
  • Jackson County Health Department offers smoking cessation classes. Call (816) 404-8429 for the class schedule.
  • North Kansas City Hospital offers a Freedom from Smoking class. The class has 7 sessions over three weeks and costs $50. To register contact call(816) 691-1688.
  • Shawnee Mission Medical Center offers the Smoking Cessation Now class. The class consists of nine sessions and costs $110. To register call (913) 676-7777 and press number 2 for the class registration desk.
  • St. Luke’s Hospital offers the class Smoking Cessation: Kick the Habit. The class costs $110 and consists of nine 1-hour sessions over the course of one month. To register call (816) 932-5100.
  • The Truman Medical Center offers a Freedom from smoking class. It is six weeks long and costs $35. To register please call (816) 404-5494.

Missouri Tobacco Quit Line
Missouri Tobacco Quit Line offers telephone coaching and FREE nicotine replacement therapy for eligible participants. Call 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669) for more information.

National Cancer Institute

Pfizer's My Time to Quit offers a customized quit plan and free information online.
