Welcome to the University of Missouri-Columbia (MU) chancellor search website. This website is designed to keep you informed of the search process, provide timely and relevant updates and serve as a resource for anyone interested in the position. Please take time to peruse the information provided and check back periodically for progress reports and updates.
Since its founding in 1839, MU has been firmly committed to its mission of educating and serving the people of Missouri and beyond. Our AAU, land-grant university has a unique mission and requires a dynamic leader who can champion the benefits of accessible, high-quality public higher education; foster the growth of the rich economic development potential characteristic of a research university; engage the many constituencies that support the university; support and enable our campus leaders to achieve their goals; and constantly rethink and innovate all the ways that a 174-year-old institution can educate students, advance our state by creating jobs, deliver solutions and build new opportunities that will advance Missouri’s prosperity in the 21st century.
Like the 21 leaders who have come before, the next chancellor of MU must understand and respect our historic institution, its stakeholders, and its role in Missouri; envision strategic opportunities; cultivate important relationships; and lead the university to new heights of greatness.
As president of the University of Missouri System, I will work diligently to identify the next outstanding leader for our university. We are committed to a selection process that will be broad and inclusive, with an emphasis on including input from as many stakeholders and members of the public as possible. I am committed to leading a series of listening opportunities during the search process. I encourage and welcome your input throughout the process.
Accept this letter as my invitation to you to return to this website for updates. Thank you for your interest in the MU chancellor search process and in the University of Missouri.Sincerely,
Timothy M. Wolfe
President, University of Missouri System
