St. Louis Media Day

As part of a St. Louis media day, UM System President Tim Wolfe visited with 'St. Louis on the Air' host Don Marsh at St. Louis Public Radio in St. Louis. Among the items discussed were higher education funding, a pending tuition vote scheduled for February 5 during the Board of Curators meeting, recent NCAA regulations allowing stipends for student-athletes, and President Obama's announcement of a free community college proposal.

Representative Paul Curtman (MO District 109) hosted a forum on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus in partnership with the Truman School of Public Affairs on ways to encourage efficiency in government.  As the chair of the Downsizing State Government committee, Representative Curtman has been researching best practices, including a primary focus on “best value” procurement and public-private partnerships.

Legislative Tailgate

Missouri legislators from across the state gathered Saturday at the University of Missouri-Columbia for a legislative tailgated hosted by UM System President Tim Wolfe. The tailgate was an opportunity to bring legislators to the Columbia campus to interact with students, faculty, staff and administrators before the 23rd-ranked Tigers took on the 13th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

Be the One: 2014 United Way Campaign
September 12 marked the kick-off to the 2014 UM/MU Campus Community Impact Campaign to support the Heart of Missouri United Way. Last year, the campaign raised $526,000 with a 19 percent employee participation rate. This year, the university goal is to raise $610,000 with a 25 percent employee participation rate. President Tim Wolfe and MU Chancellor Bowen Loftin sent a message to the campus community to promote participation in and awareness of the campaign.

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
The rules of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge are simple: If an individual is challenged, he or she has 24 hours to video record themselves pouring a bucket of ice water over their head or donate dollars to the ALS Association. This week, UM System President Tim Wolfe was challenged by Missouri Representatives Caleb Rowden (District 44) and Caleb Jones (District 50).

State of the University Address

State of the University Address
Presented Wolfe presented the State of the University Address on June 20 during the annual meeting of the University of Missouri Board of Curators in Columbia. Wolfe provided a recap of the accomplishments of the prior year as well as a look ahead.

UM Staff Recognition Awards
President Wolfe and colleagues presented UM Staff Recognition Awards June 6 during the Staff Advisory Counsel's annual picnic at Twin Lakes Recreation Area. The UM Staff Recognition Awards recognize individuals who make outstanding contributions to the university community. Awards are presented in four categories of service/support, administrative/professional, administrator/executive, and presidential.

On the Air with St. Joseph’s KFEQ

UM System President Tim Wolfe spoke with KFEQ's Barry Birr, host of the Friday Second Hour, about the reach of the university in Buchanan County. KFEQ 680 is headquartered in St. Joseph, Missouri, a community that Wolfe says benefits greatly from the university.
