2011 United Way Campaign

Live United Week - A week-long celebration to wrap up the campaign was held Nov. 14th-18th.
Online Auction: An online auction was held during Live United Week that featured over 80 items, gift certificates and experiential packages. The auction raised $8,169.
MU/KU Challenge: Each year, Heart of Missouri United Way and the University of Missouri compete in a fundraising challenge against the United Way of Douglas County in Lawrence, Kansas and the University of Kansas. This year, One Mizzou Lives United t-shirts were sold to support the fundraising challenge. Visit www.uwheartmo.org/one-mizzou-lives-united-t-shirts to order your shirts today!
Dress Down Fridays - Every Friday from Sept. 16th to Nov. 18th, a donation of $1.00 allowed participants to dress down.
Day of Caring - On Oct. 7th, 121 UM employees gave a helping hand at the Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri. In all, volunteers repackaged 35,000 bags of cereal for the Buddy Pack Program, a program that helps feed around 6,500 children each week throughout 35 Missouri counties. In addition, volunteers got creative by coloring cards to be sent to the children during the Thanksgiving holiday. The cards were designed by UM employee David Champlin.
"30 for 30" Drawing - Begins Sept. 23rd and runs for one month. Pledges eligible for prize drawings.

We have ideas or ways to recognize departments and individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty for United Way and the community:

“Under-the-radar” Volunteers - Nominate a person you know that volunteers his or her time and services to help the United Way Community. If you know of an employee who consistently volunteers, please email Nancy Tharpe.
Most Spirited Campaigner - Awarded to someone who exhibits excellent United Way Campaign Spirit. Nominate by sending an email to Ashley Caldwell.
Silent Auction MVP - Awarded to the person or department that receives the highest bid for the Silent Auction donation.
Speedy Returners - Awarded to the first department to reach 100% pledge participation will be recognized with a group award.
100% Club - Awarded to each department that reaches 100% pledge participation.
Most Improved Pledge Participation - Awarded to the department that exhibits the highest percentage improvement will be rewarded.
