Crystal Gateley is a teaching assistant professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Missouri. She has extensive clinical experience in a variety of occupational therapy practice settings including rehabilitation, long-term care, home health, pediatrics, schools, and sheltered workshops. In 2009, Gateley assisted in program planning and curriculum development for the Missouri Health Professions Consortium Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Later in 2009, she transitioned into her current position as a faculty member in the Department of Occupational Therapy, and her courses address history and theory of the profession, pediatric and adult practice, clinical documentation, and research. Gateley’s research interests include teaching and learning in the health professions, nontraditional students in health professions programs, and the transition of health professionals from clinical roles to academic roles. She is co-author of Documentation Manual for Occupational Therapy. Gateley is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis.
