The James and Vera Olson Fund for the Arts
Funding the Performance Arts on UM Campuses
Mrs. Vera Olson has requested any donations in the memory of former President James Olson be made to the James and Vera Olson Fund for the Arts.
If you would like to make a donation, please send your check to the Development Office, 109 Reynolds Alumni Center, UM-Columbia, Columbia, MO 65211. Please indicate, either by an accompanying note or on the memo line of your check, that this donation is for deposit in the James and Vera Olson Fund in Dr. Olson's memory.
The James and Vera Olson Fund for the Arts was established by friends of the Olsons to support the performing arts within the University of Missouri. Income from the investments of the Fund is used each year to support, wholly or in part, an artistic performance on the campuses of the University. Selection of performances to be underwritten by the Fund shall be made by the President of the University and the General Officers of the University.
The award is in the amount of approximately $35,000.
Awards must be spent for the performance set forth in the proposal. Performances supported entirely or in part by the Fund should be presented and advertised as supported by the Olson Fund or as an Olson Fund concert. Funding of a performance should be a cooperative effort and common on all four campuses. Unused monies must be returned to the Fund. A report by each campus on expenditures from the Fund is due May, 2015.
Proposals must describe the proposed performance in detail and must include a budget that indicates the total cost of the proposed performance, including the specific amount and use of monies, and the amount requested from the Olson Fund to support the performance. Proposals must explicitly state the mechanism of making the performance available to students at a reduced rate.
Two (2) copies of each proposal should be submitted to the Office of the Chancellor for his/her approval prior to the April 13, 2015 deadline. The Chancellor will officially submit the proposal to the Office of the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, Attn: Ashley Berg, 309 Unviersity Hall, Columbia, MO 65211.
