Talent Management Academic
As part of the University of Missouri system strategic realignment, the offices of human resources and academic affairs are connecting a wide range of human capital efforts under the single administrative umbrella of “talent management.” In this conceptual model, the human resources areas addressing faculty talent management will work in close partnership with the Office of Academic Affairs. The talent management work is being organized to build on existing faculty support and development activities and create an integrated, systemic approach to maximize faculty engagement and productivity.
The talent management efforts are being designed to leverage current disparate and isolated activities to address multiple priorities related to workplace climate, faculty recruitment and retention, performance management, succession planning and faculty engagement. The goal is to establish an integrated organizational approach that supports consistent, high quality, empirically valuable practices. Currently, the University of Missouri has human capital activities that are value-added and important, but often, disconnected and uneven within a campus and across the four-campus system. The talent management efforts strive to identify practical means to best leverage a wide array of efforts, create economies of scale and optimize sustainability.
