Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Program

ADRD PROGRAM SUSPENDED

The Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Research Program has been suspended due to the Governor’s veto of its appropriation for FY2006. We hope that the suspension is temporary and that the program will be reactivated in the future.

The ADRD program has been a valuable source of “seed” grant funding in Missouri. As envisioned by its founders, it has encouraged applications from junior investigators new to the field and experienced investigators in other fields who wished to test novel ideas on a small scale in anticipation of applying for larger grants from other sources. Since its establishment by the legislature in 1987, the program has supported an average of eight projects per year, and follow-up reports from ADRD grantees show that each dollar expended on these projects returned more than ten dollars in subsequent support from national granting agencies.

If and when the program is reactivated, Requests for Proposals containing the information necessary to apply will be sent to the individuals and institutions on our mailing list, and the instructions and timetable will also be posted on this website.
