2005 January 30
- The ASUM Constitution was ratified unanimously with a two-thirds majority required. Vote was taken by roll call.
- The ASUM By-laws were ratified by unanimous vote
2005 February 12
- Constitutional Directive : Article II Section 2 (b) amended to include
" ii. Alternative referendum wording may be used if approved by the campus board delegation and the Chair. "
Amendment passed unanimously with 15 votes by a show of hands
- Simple Directive : Reaffirm stance opposing any university changing their name to Missouri State University
- Motion carried without opposition
2005 March 5
- Simple Directive : Agenda Adopted with correction, UMSL rather than MS&T for next meeting
- Simple Directive : Minutes adopted for February 12, 2005
- Simple Directive : Bacon’s absence deemed unexcused
- Simple Directive : April National Lobbying Trip approved based on budget projections
- Constitutional Directive : to create and retain a single centralized position of Assistant Legislative Directive
- Simple Directive : Scott Johnson approved as the Legislative Director for the term of 1 July 2005 – 30 June 2006
- Simple Directive : Meagan Block approved as the (newly created and centralized) Assistant Legislative Director for the term of 1 July 2005 – 30 June 2006

“f. Public Meetings: All meetings of the Board except those involving personnel matters shall be open to the public.”
…was amended to read
“f. Public Meetings: All meetings of the Board except those involving matters outlined in Article III, Section 4, Item (g.) shall be open to the public.
“g.Closed Meetings: Board Meetings will be closed for personnel matters of hiring, firing, disciplining and promoting; for election of Board Chair and Vice Chair; for appointment of committee members; and for performance matters related to Legislative Interns.”
- Constitutional Directive : Article IV Section 1 (a) amended to include
“iii. The Chair shall not simultaneously hold any chair or president position in a national or statewide, partisan organization or special interest group. Additionally the Chair shall not serve in any capacity of service to a national or statewide governmental agency or official including service to national or state legislators. An individual must be in compliance with these standards to be eligible for Chair election. If at any time a current Chair is incompliant their position shall be immediately deemed void without further necessary action. A special election would then be held as per Article IV Section 1 (e).”

“iv. Acting as liaison between the Association and the University, particularly in regard to the respective campus Offices of Student Life, UM System Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, and the UM System Office of the Vice President for Government Relations.”
2005 April 23
- ASUM-Columbia referendum results certified unanimously
- ASUM-Kansas City referendum results certified unanimously
- National Issues program is unanimously retained and a proposal on the manner in which the program will be pursued. The proposal is to be drafted by the NID in conference with the Legislative Policy committee and presented at the summer 2005 Board meeting (date TBD). A vote on the proposal shall be taken at this meeting.
- Centralized position descriptions (Chair, Vice Chair, Executive Board Member, Executive Director, LD, and ALD moved from the Bylaws to the Constitution. Role call vote unanimous to approve.
- Amending the GPA requirement for Board Members and Interns – referred to R&A jointly with University Affairs to have proposals for the summer 2005 board meeting.
- Constitutional Directive to amend the Board Chair job description to include language to the effect…“attend ISC meetings,” and to require “a report of said meetings from Chair to Board.” Roll call vote unanimous to approve.
- Constitutional Directive to abolish the requirement that the Vice Chair serve as Rules & Administration Committee Chair; instead any Executive Board Member may be appointed. Additionally, the responsibility of Bylaw & Constitution maintenance shall be removed from the Vice Chair position description and added to the duties of the R & A Committee. Roll call vote unanimous to approve.
- Two weeks deadline set for each campus to contact orientation officials and Vice Chancellor of Student affairs concerning voter registration information in student orientation. Deadline May 6 th 2005.
- Proposal for Student Advocacy Network referred to Public Relation Committee. Formal proposal on the matter to be proposed at the summer 2005 board meeting (date TBD).
- Jen Lyon and Will Melton shall be asked to reimburse ASUM for failure to attend the DC Lobby Trip after nonrefundable / nontransferable tickets were purchased and not used. Roll Call passed unanimously.
