Faculty Entrepreneur of the Year 2009

For Entrepreneurial Innovation at the University of Missouri

 

Purpose

To honor a University of Missouri faculty member for a record of entrepreneurial innovation that demonstrates commercial utility, contributes to the public welfare, and brings visibility to the University of Missouri. Examples may include the receipt of a patent that represents an important scientific breakthrough, a significant contribution to the public good, or significant economic value; involvement in the launch of a start-up company; significant contributions to student entrepreneurship; and others.


Award Amount

The award carries a stipend of $15,000, less applicable taxes.


Eligibility

Nominees must be full-time faculty members who have been employed by the University of Missouri for at least five years prior to September 1, 2008. Each UM campus may submit up to two nominations.


Nomination Format

There is no standard format for nominations. Nominations should include a cover letter summarizing the nominee's entrepreneurial accomplishments, an up-to-date curriculum vita, and other supporting evidence of entrepreneurial innovation. Campuses are asked to limit the number of reference letters to no more than 15. Please include a list of the references submitting supporting letters. This list should include each reference's relationship to the nominee and any information about each reference's qualifications that may be helpful to the Committee. A one-page personal statement from the nominee that summarizes his/her entrepreneurial/creative objectives is also required. Nomination packages will not be returned to the campuses. Do not place the nomination package in a hard binder.

 

Submissions

Sixteen (16) copies of the nomination package should be submitted from the appropriate designee on the campus to the Office of the Sr. Vice President for Academic Affairs, Attn: Ms. Sam Kanatzar, 518 Clark Hall, Columbia, Missouri 65211.

 

Deadline

February 27, 2009: Check with your campus designated office for their scheduled deadline.
