PALI serves as the foundation for programs to promote academic leadership on the University campuses. It addresses the needs of department chairs but is open to deans and other academic leaders. It complements other on-going campus programs and resources for chairs and department staff, and tailors its offerings to meet the needs of those involved.
Working with the campuses, the program offers professional development activities for academic leaders, aligns with campus efforts, and works cooperatively with the key academic leaders on each campus. It can help build the support necessary to develop academic leaders to address the goals of the University Strategic Plan.
Executive Coaching helps organizational leaders or executives develop strengths, minimize weaknesses and maintain focus. Working with a trained behavioral science consultant or coach, the executives learn to identify challenges and obstacles they face in the academic environment, develop action plans, enhance their working relationships with subordinates and superiors, and find the balance between achievement and personal growth.
The Leadership Development Program (LDP) is an exciting yearlong program that is part of the President's Academic Leadership Institute (PALI), an effort to provide leadership development opportunities and ongoing support to academic leaders on all four campuses. This year's session will focus on strengthening leadership for academic department chairs and directors, as well as assistant and associate deans.
