New Faculty Teaching Scholars

General Features

• New Faculty Teaching Scholars are selected from faculty in their second,
  third, and fourth years of employment
  at each of the four UM campuses.
• Participation in the program lasts
  one year.
• New Faculty Teaching Scholars are nominated by deans, assistant or associate deans, and department chairs and are selected to create a diverse distribution of academic disciplines.
• New Faculty Teaching Scholars participate in workshops on their own campuses as well as in the following system-wide retreats and conferences:
  • Course Design Retreat
  • Teaching Renewal Conference
  • Academic Portfolio Retreat
• Participants will be reimbursed for mileage. Lodging, meals, and materials will be provided.
• A website provides information about teaching and learning:

• A discussion list facilitates system-wide communication and networking.
• NFTS participants receive a certificate upon completion of the year-long set of activities.
