New Faculty Teaching Scholars
General Features
- New Faculty Teaching Scholars are selected from faculty in their second,
third, and fourth years of employment
at each of the four UM campuses.
- Participation in the program lasts
one year.
- New Faculty Teaching Scholars are nominated by deans, assistant or associate deans, and department chairs and are selected to create a diverse distribution of academic disciplines.
- New Faculty Teaching Scholars participate in workshops on their own campuses as well as in the following system-wide retreats and conferences:
- Course Design Retreat
- Teaching Renewal Conference
- Academic Portfolio Retreat
- Participants will be reimbursed for mileage. Lodging, meals, and materials will be provided.
- A website provides information about teaching and learning:

- A discussion list facilitates system-wide communication and networking.
- NFTS participants receive a certificate upon completion of the year-long set of activities.
