BPM-602 Eye Protective Devices

Summary
When participating in certain vocational arts and chemical-physical laboratory courses of instruction, all employees, faculty, staff, students, volunteers, and visitors are required to wear approved, industrial quality eye protective devices and must comply with all provisions of Sections 170.005, .007 and .009 RSMo. 1978.
Employees Requiring Eye Protective Devices
Pursuant to Senate Bill #519, 78th General Assembly, RS Mo.: Sections 170.005, .007 and .009, all University employees whose work activities expose them to potential eye hazards shall be required to wear appropriate eye protective devices.
Courses Requiring Eye Protective Devices
- Vocational, technical, industrial arts, chemical, or chemical-physical shops or laboratories involving exposure to the following: hot molten metals, or other molten materials; milling, sawing, turning, shaping, cutting, grinding, or stamping of any solid materials; heat treatment, tempering, or kiln firing of any metal or other materials; gas or electric arc welding, or other forms of welding processes; repair or servicing of any vehicle; caustic or explosive materials.
- Chemical, physical, or combined chemical-physical laboratories involving caustic or explosive materials, hot liquids or solids, injurious radiations or other hazards not enumerated.
