Chapter 310: Academic Tenure Regulations

310.075 Negotiated Faculty Retirements and Resignations

Executive Guideline No. 30, 11-3-93, Revised 4-5-94.

1. Authority and Purpose -- Pursuant to the General Delegation of Power by the Board to the President in Section 20.020 of the Collected Rules and Regulations, the President hereby issues this Executive Guideline for the purpose of establishing a procedure to be utilized by the University in entering into any special retirement or resignation agreement with a tenured faculty member whereby the tenure rights of the tenured faculty member are abrogated.
    
2. Procedure -- If the Chancellor of any campus within the University of Missouri System determines that it would be in the best interest of the University to enter into any special retirement or resignation agreement whereby the tenure rights of a tenured faculty member are abrogated, the Chancellor may authorize preliminary negotiations with such tenured faculty member for such matter. Any preliminary negotiations shall be with the understanding that such agreement is not binding on the University until the Chancellor has recommended to the President that the tentative agreement be approved and the President has executed the agreement on behalf of the University.
