Compensation

HR-206 Office/Technical Compensation

Summary

Pay administration for Office/Technical (O/T) employees is administered under a market pricing and performance management philosophy. Hiring is within the job pay range and salary increases are generally available on an annual basis.

Hiring

Office/Technical employees will be hired within the pay range assigned to the job. Starting rates of pay will be based upon relevant personal competencies, education and experience, and internal equity considerations.

Annual Increases

The effective date for annual salary increases is the beginning of the pay period which includes September 1. An employee's pay rate will be reviewed utilizing such factors as market conditions, available funding and an annual performance evaluation.

Mid-Year Increases

Such increases should not be retroactive and are effective at the beginning of a pay period. Mid-year increases are discouraged unless exceptional circumstances are identified. Approval authority is delegated to the campus chancellor. For UM employees, the authority for approval of such increases is delegated to the vice presidents.
