HR-403 Personal Days Q&As

1. What happens to personal days if an employee is on layoff?

Employees on layoff may retain personal days during the layoff leave of absence; however, they may be used immediately prior to the layoff. Personal days must be taken within the anniversary year.

2. Can personal days be taken on the last day of duty?

No, unless the employee is to be placed on a layoff leave of absence.

3. If an employee works 75 percent FTE, is he/she eligible for personal days?

A regular employee working less than 100 percent FTE would receive personal days on a pro rata basis.

4. Can employees take personal days in hourly increments?

Yes. The total hours provided may not exceed 32 hours for 100 percent FTE staff.
