Administrative Leadership Development Program

"The ALDP program was an outstanding experience. I found the program to be particularly beneficial because I shared the experience and developed lasting relationships with University of Missouri colleagues."

– Paul Toler,
past participant

ALDP 2009 Dates

Applications Due

April 20-23, 2008

Assessment for Development Retreat

Who should apply:

The program has been created for mid-level leaders such as Directors, Associate Directors, and Assistant Directors. We recognize titles may vary across campuses.

How to Apply:

Due to current budget challenges, the ALDP program has been suspended for 2009. While President Forsee remains committed to leadership development as a means of advancing institutional excellence, the urgency of our fiscal situation dictates that we must put on hold the ALDP and other activities of the President’s Academic Leadership Institute. Thanks for your understanding.

2007 ClassCriteria used to select participants:

Assessment Process

In early March, selected ALDP participants will receive information regarding the assessment process.  Participants will complete self-assessments regarding their leadership style. In addition, participants will participate in a 360 degree evaluation by asking their peers, supervisor(s), and direct reports to complete an online survey about the participant’s leadership style.  Assessments will remain confidential.  In April, highly skilled facilitators from The Fanning Institute will help participants process the feedback to learn more about their leadership characteristics, how to develop as a leader and how to work with others across the University system to make a difference.

Consulting Team

The University of Missouri originally partnered with the Fanning Institute, located in Athens, Georgia, to create the President’s Academic Leadership Institute (PALI). Almost seven years later, PALI continues to bring in consultants from The Fanning Institute as well as independent consultants to provide ongoing leadership development opportunities to University of Missouri leaders.

Note: Not all applicants can be selected for participation in the Administrative Leadership Development Program . The goal is to identify a diverse group of administrators who represent all campuses and areas and include a wide range of experience and expertise. This will be an ongoing program and all interested administrative leaders are encouraged to apply for participation in future sessions.
