The University of Missouri System is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Vice President for Human Resources. The University of Missouri is a four-campus research system with Extension and distance learning services, an extensive health care network, a total enrollment of more than 63,000 students and 23,500 faculty and staff.
As the University's senior human resources officer, the Vice President for Human Resources is responsible for determining long-term human resource strategies to achieve the mission of the University as established by the President and the Board of Curators. Responsibilities include the development and administration of institutionally-determined employee benefit plan(s), independent union policy negotiations and their administration, determination of compensation programming and associated market positioning, oversight of a central information database and processing network, the development of employment policies, and final adjudication of employee grievances.
Reporting to the President, the Vice President for Human Resources is a member of the University's general officers and serves as an advisor to the governing board on human resource matters. The Vice President for Human Resources serves as ex-officio member of the Board of Curators' Compensation and Human Resources Committee.
Applicants must have experience as a senior human resource officer or offsetting high level executive/professional experience in a large and highly diversified organization. Experience in higher education is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community are essential.
