UM Business Services provides a variety of miscellaneous services to support the business functions of the University. These include, but are not limited to the following:

Licenses - FCC, SESAC, BMI, ASCAP, Liquor

The University operates radio and TV stations that serve their campus communities. UM Business Services obtains and renews FCC licenses for these stations and also retains a consultant who advises station managers regarding compliance with FCC regulations. Questions from station managers are directed to the consultant by Management Services staff. Contact Tanya Haeussler:

SESAC, BMI, and ASCAP are licensing agents for use of copyrighted music or performance materials. Tanya Haeussler, with assistance from UM Business Services, maintains these licenses for all campuses. Annual payments are made through the UM Business Services account, and campuses are billed for their share of the payments.

State law requires that any establishment serving liquor within 500 feet of an educational institution must obtain the approval of the institution before obtaining a liquor license. Requests for approval are processed by UM Business Services.

Unclaimed Property

UM Business Services works with the Missouri State Treasurer's Office to file claims for assets held by the state as unclaimed property. Searches are also made for unclaimed property held by other states. Receipts from these claims, where it is possible to identify the campus, are returned to the appropriate Vice Chancellors of Administration.

Special Projects

UM Business Services staff members have served on special projects committees, such as the initial implementation of PeopleSoft AP/PO, and the Incidental Expenditures Committee.
