These records contain paper records which may have copies of basic patient information, agreements, billing arrangements and receipts. These records also contain dental x-rays taken of patients as well as various orthodontic diagnostic and treatment materials including arch wires, plaster mouth casts (models), colored pictures of patients facial area for cosmetic evaluation, etc.
A. Adult patients: Retain for ten (10) years after all treatment is completed then destroy as a confidential record.
B. Minor patients: Retain for ten (10) years after patient's 18th birthday then destroy as a confidential record.
NOTE: Retention times apply to both electronic and paper media.
