Healthcare Attorney Job Posting



The University of Missouri System, located in Columbia, Missouri, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of healthcare attorney in the Office of the General Counsel. This position will be based in the Office of General Counsel in Columbia, Missouri and will report directly to the General Counsel.

The University of Missouri System consists of four academic campuses located in Columbia, Kansas City, Rolla and St. Louis, and the University Health System. Healthcare related facilities and programs operated by the University of Missouri include University of Missouri Health Care (MUHC) located in Columbia which encompasses University Hospitals and Clinics, Women’s and Children’s Hospital, University Physicians, and University of Missouri-Columbia Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Health Professions. Other healthcare related programs of the University include Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry and Pharmacy at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Schools of Nursing and Optometry at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Responsibilities will include providing day to day advice on a variety of health law issues; reviewing and drafting contracts and other agreements which relate to the operation of healthcare facilities, including managed care agreements; advising on business transactions related to healthcare facilities; advising on survey, certification, and licensing requirements for healthcare facilities, professional licensing, controlled substance regulations, reimbursement rules, privacy and security issues, and other regulatory and compliance requirements; counseling clients regarding personnel issues affecting healthcare facilities and programs; and other responsibilities assigned by the General Counsel.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of healthcare law, especially compliance and regulatory issues; ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and external contacts; demonstrated skills in client service, oral and written communication and time management; proven ability to effectively develop trust, respect and cooperation across all areas of an organization and staff levels. The ability to practice in other subject matter areas will be helpful.

Candidate must have a law degree. At least five years experience in healthcare law is preferred. Admission to Missouri Bar or eligibility for admission by reciprocity is necessary.
