Cheryl Walker of St. Louis was unanimously elected Thursday to a one-year term as Chair of the University of Missouri Board of Curators. During the Board’s meeting in Kansas City, Bo Fraser of Columbia was unanimously elected Vice Chair of the governing board for the four-campus University of Missouri System.
The one-year leadership terms for Curators Walker and Fraser begin January 1, 2008. Curator Walker, who has served for the last year as the Board’s Vice Chair, succeeds Chairman Don Walsworth of Marceline, who remains as a member of the Board.
Curator Walker has chaired the Finance and Human Resources Committee and the Physical Facilities and Management Services Committee. She represents Missouri’s First Congressional District. Among Curator Walker’s priorities for the Board of Curators will be successful completion of the presidential search.
“The Board of Curators will continue to work diligently toward finding an outstanding leader for the University of Missouri,” Curator Walker said. “We have high expectations and want to entrust the care of Missouri’s premier research and land-grant University to a proven leader.”
