Records & Records Management
BPM-909 Standard File System
Revised September 1, 1994
Standard File System
A “straight line” filing system is the standard file folder and guide arrangement system recommended for all departments using conventional drawer files. The “straight line” filing system will:
- Improve records filing and retrieval.
- Facilitate and simplify filing personnel training.
- Achieve savings in file folder purchasing.
Colored labels can also be used in several different configurations to aid file identification.
NOTE: Records Management should be contacted for further information on the “straight line” file system and for help in implementing department file systems.
