HR-112 Transfers

Summary

For administrative, service & support employees, transfers between departments are permitted, when in the best interests of the University and the employee. An employee must have successfully completed the six (6)-month probationary period and be in good standing in order to be eligible for transfer. The head of the department from which the employee is transferring should verify that the employee is a satisfactory employee and eligible for transfer.

Qualifying Period

Employees who transfer to a position in another department must serve a one (1)-month qualifying period in the new position.

Accruals

Accumulated vacation, sick leave, and personal day accruals become the responsibility of the department to which the employee is transferring.

Procedures

The employee's Personnel Action Form (PAF) (UM Form 270) must be processed to transfer the employee from one department to another. The employee's entire departmental personnel record must be transferred to the department to which the employee is transferring.
