The University of Missouri System (UM System) invites applications and nominations for the newly created position of Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA). The VPAA, in partnership with UM System President Timothy M. Wolfe, will provide dynamic and visionary leadership that will enhance the system’s reputation for academic excellence, research, service and economic development.

The UM System is a land-grant institution comprised of four campuses (in Columbia, Kansas City, Rolla and St. Louis), a health care enterprise, 10 research parks and incubators, 19 agricultural research stations and a vast network of Small Business & Technology Development Centers and MU Extension offices across the state. The system enrolls more than 75,000 students and is supported by a budget of $2.8 billion. The successful candidate for the VPAA position must have extensive knowledge and experience with the rapidly changing landscape of higher education, possess a strong commitment to high academic standards, and be committed to the enhancement of scholarly research, teaching, and learning. He/she must also have the ability and experience to shape the academic vision of the university and develop strategies to accomplish that vision.

The VPAA must demonstrate extraordinary competence as a strategic and integrative leader who will assist the UM System’s four universities in realizing their academic and scholarly missions, while engaging their constituencies in transforming the UM System to new levels of achievement and renown.  For a complete description of the qualities and experiences sought in the new VPAA, please visit the job description webpage.
