Graduate Assistant

Responsibilities may include: grading, assisting in a program-sponsored laboratory or instructional center, assisting a professor on a research project, professional conference development, tutoring or development of administrative skills. Specific assignments vary by type of assistantship. A graduate assistant is not eligible for tuition waiver. 

Graduate Fellow

Outstanding incoming and continuing doctoral students participate in a program comprised of intensive, small-group settings on issues of common interest. Focus is on graduate study, internships, fostering mentoring relationships with faculty, and other professional development activities. Participants also interact with and develop relationships with other peer scholars and fellows, honing skills in communication, collaboration in areas of research, teaching and professional development. May also perform current research and broaden understanding of issues related to area of specialty.  Must continue working toward a graduate degree throughout the assistantship.

Graduate Instructor

Responsibilities may include lecturing, preparing course materials and exams, grading assignments and exams, proctoring exams, preparing and posting grades, holding regularly scheduled office hours and providing individual and/or group assistance to students and performing other course-related duties. Must continue working toward a graduate degree throughout the assistantship.

Graduate Library Assistant

Assist with managing library collections and digital content management systems. May research artifacts and archival material to add information to digital finding aids and library catalog, enhance accessibility for teaching and research and assist with other special projects. Must continue working toward a graduate degree throughout the assistantship.

Graduate Research Assistant

Assist faculty with research projects either currently involved in or proposing. Perform research activities related to grant or fund requirements while progressing toward an advanced degree. Responsibilities will vary based on the research. Must continue working toward a graduate degree throughout the assistantship.

Graduate Teaching Assistant

Assist with teaching duties during the academic year. Provide support for the administration of a course and classroom instruction, and other related responsibilities which may include: overseeing AV equipment, leading  discussion, tutorial and laboratory sections, teaching undergraduate-level course, ordering and distributing  classroom materials, setting up a laboratory, demonstrating use of equipment, enforcing lab rules, preparing  materials for a discussion section, posting materials online, assisting with recording grades. Must participate in the graduate assistant teaching orientation (GATO) and continue working toward a graduate degree throughout the assistantship.
