The Supervisor, Breast Imaging and Mammography oversees operational, financial, and personnel activities for breast imaging, mammography, DXA, ultrasound, mobile mammography, or a combination of these departments. This supervisor functions as a working technologist, providing daily staffing coverage.
Establish annual and long-term departmental goals. Assist in the preparation of department operational and capital budgets.
Identify and evaluate new or improved technology/equipment selection, maintain equipment, and make recommendations for improvements.
Oversee quality assurance, annual audit, and accreditation.
Perform interviews and coordinate hiring and orientation of new employees. Perform 30 and 90-day check-in with new employees.
Perform rounding/huddles, recognition, and update employee job descriptions. Perform annual performance appraisals in a timely fashion. Initiate and document disciplinary processes when necessary. Ensure staff competency in imaging requirements and expectations.
Monitor productivity reports and manage staffing accordingly. Provide positive customer service through rounding and service recovery. Review and complete patient safety event notifications and complaints.
Manage the development, coordination, and maintenance of daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of coverage and continuity of care.
Maintain and instruct staff on the department policy, procedure, and protocols.

Monitor time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely submittal/approval for payroll purposes.

General supervision is received from the designated manager or director.
Direct supervision is exercised over clinical and support staff.
Three (3) years experience in radiology or sonography.
One of the following:
--ARRT certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); or
--American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification; or
--Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification.
Mammography (ARRT-M) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
