Nature of Work

Ensures the university's environmental health through practices such as food inspection, health and safety studies, the management of hazardous material and others.

  • Performs routine assignments using existing procedures, practices, techniques, etc.

  • Performs a variety of standard assignments and responsibilities and makes recommendations for improvement/efficiency, resourcing, etc., as necessary

  • Conducts a variety of field studies and tests concerning the environmental and safety conditions in and around the University's facilities

  • Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems and/or correct standard, routine issues

  • Researches and/or analyzes information and uses standard practices to make informed judgments and recommendations

  • Instructs and/or assists users in the operation of technical equipment and analysis of data.

  • Has impact on own work team

  • Works within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines, noting when obstacles may impact outcomes

  • Exchanges information, asks questions, and checks for audience understanding

  • Disseminates reports, policies, and analysis to others throughout the function

  • Develops working relationships with various internal parties and may work with external parties, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Possesses conceptual knowledge of theories, practices and procedures within the Science & Environmental Health function

  • Maintains knowledge and awareness of current trends in the Science & Environmental Health function and uses these to perform job duties

  • Applies general knowledge of the organization and Science & Environmental Health techniques developed through education and experiences
