Nature of Work
Ensures the university's environmental health through practices such as food inspection, health and safety studies, the management of hazardous material and others.
Performs routine assignments using existing procedures, practices, techniques, etc.
Performs a variety of standard assignments and responsibilities and makes recommendations for improvement/efficiency, resourcing, etc., as necessary
Conducts a variety of field studies and tests concerning the environmental and safety conditions in and around the University's facilities
Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems and/or correct standard, routine issues
Researches and/or analyzes information and uses standard practices to make informed judgments and recommendations
Instructs and/or assists users in the operation of technical equipment and analysis of data.
Has impact on own work team
Works within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines, noting when obstacles may impact outcomes
Exchanges information, asks questions, and checks for audience understanding
Disseminates reports, policies, and analysis to others throughout the function
Develops working relationships with various internal parties and may work with external parties, as needed
Receives instruction, guidance, and/or direction from more senior level roles
May mentor others in completing Science & Environmental Health duties
A Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Possesses conceptual knowledge of theories, practices and procedures within the Science & Environmental Health function
Maintains knowledge and awareness of current trends in the Science & Environmental Health function and uses these to perform job duties
Applies general knowledge of the organization and Science & Environmental Health techniques developed through education and experiences
