Nature of Work

To design, implement and maintain high end user-friendly audio-visual systems (may include audio, video, voice, data and control systems) for new campus construction projects, conference facilities, public gathering spaces, recreational spaces, and other educational spaces as well as over 90 centrally supported existing systems.

  • Produce high level system design packages that include signal flow diagrams, control diagrams, rack elevations, cable plant, infrastructure drawings, power/data drawings, equipment lists, pin- outs, and indicate all sub-system dependencies and interconnectivity with Visio or AutoCAD. Assist with the installation design and installation of systems in new rooms, and upgrades to old rooms, to ensure successful deployment of new equipment.

  • Fully test AV systems to ensure that it functions as designed. Work with client to ensure client satisfaction.

  • Support the maintenance of equipment, including lifecycle replacement of equipment based on results of research and testing for compatibility with existing components in system.

  • Be responsible for training faculty, staff, or students on non-standard equipment and occasionally assist with training on standard AV equipment.

Supervision Received

Supervision received from an appropriate functional manager or designee as determined by department head.

Supervision Exercised

Functional supervision may be exercised over professional, paraprofessional, temporary or student staff and contractors.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Educational Technology or related technology field is required. Three years of related work experience that involved operating and troubleshooting computers, audio-visual equipment, working with the inputs and outputs of A/V equipment and media is required. Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio or AutoCAD, Adobe Product Suite is required. Familiarity with or certification in AMX programming, AMX Touch Panel design is preferred. CTS/CTSD Certification is desirable.
