BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

The Quality Outcomes Coordinator oversees the submission and expertise of hospital-based quality reporting programs such as Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR), Outpatient Quality Reporting (OQR), Inpatient Psychiatric Facility Quality Reporting (IPFQR), Electronic Clinical Quality Measures (eCQM), Hospital Compare, Hospital Readmission Reduction Program (HRRP), Hospital-Acquired Condition Reduction Program (HACRP), and Hospital Value-Based Purchasing (HVBP). This role serves as an expert resource to provide program guidance and support and works in collaboration with stakeholders and subject matter experts to deploy actionable insights that produce value-driven outcomes for patients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Analyze upcoming program changes and results for communication and presentation to quality leadership and staff. Promote clinical quality outcome improvements through the development and communication of exception reporting.

Coordinate implementation, validation, and submission of various quality metrics as they are developed and modified with MU Health Care and Cerner. Serve as administrator of quality portals such as QualityNet, Vizient, and abstraction vendors.

Remain current with specifications, requirements, and standards. Actively participate in professional forums, and ensure compliance with all applicable standards. Update job knowledge by subscribing to the latest information on applicable knowledge. Maintain knowledge of current and future measures and how they are defined.

Coordinate data collection, analysis, and reporting related to continued readiness activities and quality/patient safety projects (includes all aspects of the department's identified sensitive indicators, all regulatory bodies, and associated payer programs).

Develop and initiate educational information and updates on quality performance indicators.

Monitor clinical outcomes and system issues related to quality of care through internal and external benchmarking on a regular basis and on demand.

Participate in interdisciplinary groups to support and promote patient safety through quality improvement initiatives.

Promote standards-based practice with staff and upholds compliance with state and local regulatory agencies.

Research and maintain a knowledge base on current trends in hospitals for assuring compliance and other quality initiatives.

Serves as a mentor for staff in the use of data and quality management.

Understand change theory and utilize the most effective techniques to impact successful project implementation.

Build strong relationships with clinical stakeholders associated with measuring implementation and performance.

Must be able to perform the professional and/or technical competencies of the department.

May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree.

One (1) year of healthcare experience.

Strong analytic, problem solving, and communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree is strongly preferred.

One (1) year of experience in program oversight and management.

Clinical experience and knowledge of quality outcomes is strongly preferred.

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
