The Pharmacy Medication Safety Officer will provide system-level leadership focused on the implementation and improvement of safe medication practices.
Lead and facilitate medication safety best practice implementation and performance improvement to ensure safe medication processes, driven through internal medication error reporting as well as local and national reported data.
Ensure compliance with state and national regulatory bodies through the development and maintenance of medication safety-related policies and procedures.
Partner with the patient safety team to ensure system-wide consistency of event reporting and documentation.
Collaborate with pharmacy and physicians to present medication safety reviews and key performance indicators for Pharmacy and Therapeutic presentation.
Maintain smart pump infusion dataset. Collaborate with nursing stakeholders regularly to review infusion pump data reports to identify opportunities to improve dataset use and reduce unnecessary alerts.
Assist in the education and training of pharmacy students, technicians, and residents.
May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

Supervision is received from the Manager, Retail Pharmacy or the Senior Director, Pharmacy Services.
Functional supervision is exercised over the pharmacy support staff and pharmacy interns.
Pharmacist licensure by the Missouri Board of Pharmacy.
Experience in hospital pharmacy or the completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 Residency.
Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY2 Residency program.
Advanced certification such as BCACP, BCOP, BCPS, BCCCP, CSP, or BCPPS or other relevant pharmacy board certification from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties or Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board.
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
