BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

The Coordinator of Advanced Practice Professional Development Education and Training provides oversight of training and clinical rotations for advanced practice providers (APPs) including Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Anesthetists. Responsibilities include validating competencies for advanced practice privileges, supporting the educational needs of new and experienced APPs, and oversight of clinical rotations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Models and upholds the organization's vision, mission, values, and service excellence while mentoring and supporting advanced practice providers.

Leads the development of advanced practice competency criteria and OPPE/FPPE for medical staff.

Leads the development of advanced practice educational programs to align with organizational priorities and enhance patient care safety and quality.

Analyzes education and development activities systematically to identify needed improvements.

Integrates research and best practices into educational and professional development activities for AP staff, including orientation and continuing education.

Assists in selecting strategies to enhance learner engagement and activity.

Fosters lifelong learning and discovery using adult learning principles and effective communication and teaching methods.

Coordinates clinical education placement and experiences with AP programs, university faculty, and medical staff, providing feedback as needed.

Oversees Advanced Practice Provider Fellowships and related programs, including curriculum development and instructional materials.

Collects and reports fellowship process and outcome data, including attendance and satisfaction.

Promotes a respectful environment that encourages idea exchange and supports professional relationships.

Provides evidence-based advanced practice care in collaboration with patients, families, and supervisory physicians.

Commits regular time in clinical areas to maintain competence and provide patient and family care.

May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Ability to exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria and make decisions requiring advanced analytical judgment.

Knowledge of state and federal regulatory, licensure, and practice issues.

Ability to maintain productive relationships and lead teams while participating in shared decision-making.

Continued support recruitment, recognition, and retention of AP staff.

Thorough understanding of educational requirements and principles of adult education

Reports to Clinical Director, Advanced Practice Providers

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Functional supervision exercised over APPs and AP students

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Physicians Assistant (PA) licensure by the Missouri State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts. OR Preparation as a nurse practitioner in either a Master's program or a certificate program. Must be granted a "Document of Recognition" from the Missouri Board of Nursing 5 years' experience as an Advanced Practice Provider

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Certified Physician Assistant (PA) certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department
