Perform various customer service functions related to specialized embroidery services in a consistent and high-quality manner with minimal supervision with accuracy according to MU Health Care Licensing Agreement and branding standards. Operate and maintain standard laboratory equipment.
Interact with staff and customers using excellent written and verbal communication skills. Organize time and resources to receive, embroidery and price high volumes of medical apparel. Ensure customer service standards and MUHC branding standards are met through a thorough understanding of fabrics, work request and expertise in operating embroidery machine. Maintain equipment with daily, monthly and annual machine equipment basics. Educate staff and customers, as needed, on embroidery process, fabric requirements and pricing. Perform specialized embroidery procedures on medical apparel, lab coats, vests and other fabric items. Interpret equipment and digitizing software manuals. Work in computer-based image digitizing, one and two head embroidery machines and electronic cash register systems. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
Applicants must be a self-starter, work independently, and have excellent attention to detail. Must be able to set, meet and communicate realistic deadlines. Ability to accurately handle high volumes of embroidery work orders in accordance with policy. Math, writing skills, and legibility.
Fine motor skills and manual dexterity. Must be able to stand to hoop projects, applying firm and even pressure with both arms/hands. Optically inclined - must be able to discern minute color differences using lights and magnifying glasses.
Direction is received from the Supervisor of Gift Shops, Spiritual Care and Volunteer Services.
Functional supervision over embroidery staff.
Degree/Diploma Obtained
Program of Study
Required/Preferred
Six (6) months of experience in embroidery, sewing retail, or a related field.
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
