The Practice Nurse Manager, Endoscopy and GI Lab provides leadership and operational oversight for all clinical and administrative functions of the Endoscopy and Gastrointestinal Labs (GI Lab) at MU Health Care. Responsible for quality patient care delivery, staff development, regulatory compliance, and the achievement of financial and operational goals. e areas.
Leads GI Lab operations by directing clinical and administrative activities
while maintaining high standards of patient care.
Creates high-performing teams through effective recruitment, training, coaching, and evaluation of GI Lab staff.
Maintains appropriate staffing levels through implementation of nurse staffing and call schedules to ensure safe and efficient care.
Communicates departmental goals, expectations, and updates effectively to staff.
Establishes and enforces policies and procedures in alignment with MU Health Care and regulatory standards.
Collaborates with leadership to develop long-term plans and organizational goals related to service lines and performance standards.
Partners with physicians and clinical educators to develop patient education materials.
Develops and oversees departmental quality assurance programs and infection prevention processes.
Manages the dosimetry badge program, ensuring compliance and documentation.
Oversees Guest Relations and addresses patient and family concerns to ensure service excellence.
Collaborates with other managers, physicians, and administration to resolve operational challenges and enhance service delivery.
Directs evidence-based patient care and supports efficiency and program growth through system evaluation and implementation.
Manages patient safety initiatives and quality improvement efforts with measurable outcomes.
Develops and monitors productivity standards and workload reports.
Prepares and manages the annual departmental budget, including capital equipment purchases and supply inventory.
Oversees annual capital asset audits and ensures fiscal accountability.
Monitors time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely submittal/approval for payroll purposes.
Leads a culture of safety through proactive risk mitigation and continuous
quality improvement, taking measures to routinely evaluate regulatory readiness. Monitors and analyzes safety and performance metrics to identify trends and implement corrective actions for staff and/or patients as appropriate.
Manage the development, coordination, and maintenance of daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of coverage and continuity of care.
Monitor and oversee time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely approval for payroll purposes.
May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.
Knowledge of unit workflows, policies, and procedures to manage daily operations, maintain standards, and support quality improvement.
Applies leadership and interpersonal skills to supervise staff, foster collaboration, and drive accountability and service excellence.
Uses foundational budgeting and compliance skills to manage resources, support survey readiness, and ensure regulatory adherence.
Supervision is received from designated Director, Surgical Services. Additional guidance is received from the Director of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Supervision is exercised over the Supervisor, Endoscopy and GI Lab and other professional, technical, clinical, and clerical staff of GI Procedural Services.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under the new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
Five (5) years of relevant professional experience.
Two (2) years of managerial or supervisory experience.
Three (3) years of GI experience.
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during
inclement weather will be required.
