The Clinical Supervisor, Medical Base will be responsible for oversight of daily operations of assigned base(s). Supervises personnel and coordinates activities of MU Air Medical Services clinical personnel as assigned. Assists management team in the implementation and enforcement of MU Air Medical Services policies, procedures, and protocols.
Identifies and pursues public relations and outreach education opportunities for assigned base(s) and service areas.
Confers with physicians, department managers, and regional partners to resolve operational problems, promote communication, and support regional readiness efforts.
Participates in clinical and support committees within partner, coverage, and impacted regions to ensure alignment with organizational and regional goals.
Provides quality and safety support to partner areas, collaborating on initiatives that drive continuous improvement and patient outcomes.
Assists in developing and revising standards, policies, and clinical protocols.
Participates in quality assurance and improvement by identifying problems, collaborating with the program coordinator to correct deficiencies, and evaluating implemented changes.
Coordinates daily activities of MU Air Medical Services clinical staff to ensure consistent, high-quality patient care and operational efficiency.
Delegates assignments and holds medical employees accountable for project completion.
Functions as a resource for disseminating new information and resolving clinical and operational problems.
Ensures proper use, maintenance, and repair of equipment and supplies.
Interviews candidates and provides input on hiring decisions.
Assists in onboarding and orientation of new employees in collaboration with the program coordinator and clinical educator.
Conducts rounding conversations, performs standard performance management duties, and initiates disciplinary actions for administrative and behavioral
deficiencies as needed.
Oversees the functional and day-to-day operations of the assigned base(s) to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
Maintains and monitors medical crew licensure, certifications, clinical requirements, OSHA training and testing, and advanced procedures tracking in collaboration with the clinical educator and program coordinator.
Supports the program's compliance with the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) standards and other applicable accreditation or regulatory requirements.
Oversees the maintenance and organization of crew quarters and ensures compliance with regulatory agency requirements, safety standards, and infection control policies.
Develops, coordinates, and maintains daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of unit coverage and continuity of care.
Monitors time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely submittal/approval for payroll purposes.
May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
Demonstrates knowledge of unit workflows, policies, and procedures to manage daily operations, maintain standards, and support quality improvement.
Applies leadership and interpersonal skills to supervise staff, foster collaboration, and drive accountability and service excellence.
Uses foundational budgeting and compliance skills to manage resources, support survey readiness, and ensure regulatory adherence.
Supervision is received from the Program Manager, Flight Services.
Supervision is exercised over paramedic and clinical support personnel, non-RN staff.
Three (3) years of critical care or emergency RN or paramedic experience. One (1) year of flight experience within the last three (3) years.
Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When the primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under the new state of residency within thirty (30) days; OR Paramedic (EMT-P or EMT-CP) licensure by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS).
Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) by the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN); OR Flight Paramedic Certified (FP-C) or Critical Care Paramedic Certified (CCP-C) by the International Board of Specialty Certification (IBSC).
Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field strongly preferred.
One (1) year of leadership experience. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 100 lbs and occasionally move objects up to 25 lbs or more. The employee must not exceed a flight weight of 230lbs including flight gear.
This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility or at a remote base, open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
