Perform entry level TAB Technician work for testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) of Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems.
Assist with collecting HVAC equipment nameplate data.
Assist with entering data into computerized TAB forms.
Assist with inspection of building construction to determine if equipment and devices are installed per the design allowing TAB work to be performed.
Notify the supervisor of any unresolved deficiencies in construction.
Assist with air and water measurements, calibration of devices, and adjusting dampers, valves and motor speeds.
Properly and safely use, clean, operate, store and maintain tools and TAB equipment.
Follow all safety and maintenance policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work toward successfully completing all Skills Category training courses and tests for TAB Technician II.
Functional supervision will be provided by an upper-level TAB Technician or supervisor. Administrative supervision will be received from a designated supervisor or engineer. Work assignments will be given orally or in written form.
All personnel must have:
A high school diploma or GED.
Twelve months of working experience in construction or facilities maintenance. Preference given for experience in HVAC, TAB, or Commissioning trade.
The ability to follow safety procedures and work safely.
The ability to do the following on a daily basis:
Grasp, lift, maneuver, rotate, and otherwise use small to large trade tools and equipment.
Grasp, lift, carry, and set down medium weight objects (50 lbs.).
Grasp, turn, twist, pull, push, lift, and otherwise move equipment, controls, parts, etc.
Climb and work from ladders, stairs, scaffolding and lifts.
Work in areas where cold and high levels of heat, moisture, dust, and noise are present.
Wear appropriate PPE while accomplishing assigned tasks.
The ability to occasionally work early, late, overtime, and weekends.
And possess a valid driver's license to allow legal operation of a motor vehicle in the State of Missouri.
Personnel working in the TAB Technician I classification will be allowed to remain in the position up to three years, at which time they must have successfully completed the necessary requirements to move into the TAB Technician II classification.
If the technician is unable to successfully complete the testing within three years, progressive discipline with appropriate time extensions will be initiated.
