Nature and Level of Work

Responsible for performing field locates of underground plant and utilities. Verifies that third party vendor and subcontractors are requesting 3rd party locates sufficiently in advance of construction. Identifies issues or obstacles that could impact project timeliness, accuracy or completeness per client guidelines and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately locate underground cables and equipment.

  • Accurately flag/paint to mark location of cables/equipment.

  • Protect underground fibers, cables, etc. along designated route.

  • Cover any emergencies that arise in designated work areas.

  • Communicate clearly and accurately with supervisor as well as designated point of contact on project progress, setbacks, completion, etc.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received

Under direct supervision, receives oral and written instructions on work to be performed, occasionally supplemented by diagrams or blueprints.

Supervision Exercised

May occasionally instruct and/or guide personnel assisting in work.

Qualifications

  • Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Previous outdoor experience is a plus.

  • Able to work in a confined space; walk, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs.

  • Computer proficiency

  • Available to work overtime and weekends (as needed)

  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record

  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, plumbing and electrical codes.

  • Skill in maintenance and use of tools, equipment and materials applicable trades.

  • Sufficient strength to perform some heavy lifting and work on ladders on an occasional basis.

  • A valid driver's license may be required for certain positions.

  • Certification may be required in some areas.
