April 3, 2017

  • The president, chancellors, provosts and chief financial officers announce the guiding principles for the budget planning process.
  • On April 3, 2017, email messages announced the budget planning process.
  • System and campus leaders schedule meetings with deans, department heads and other stakeholders to discuss process for identifying programs of excellence to protect and programs to eliminate to meet the budget cuts.

May 8, 2017

  • Email message from the president thanking the University community for its participation in the budget planning process.

May 10, 2017

  • Leaders share plans with the university community for input. Plans will consist of:
    • Short-term plans of cuts toward the target that have already been identified and will be included in the budget.
    • Long-term plans of the process, timeline and dollar targets that will be followed to identify and realize further cuts to fill the budget gap through the remainder of FY18.

May 19, 2017

  • Leaders submit plans to the president.
  • Release campus budget plans; president sends message to faculty and staff.

May 26, 2017

  • President and leaders review and discuss the plans to ensure that programs of excellence are protected.

May 30, 2017

  • President sends email message inviting members of the University community to watch an address about the University budget plan on June 2, 2017.

June 2, 2017

  • President and leaders share final plans with the University community
  • Final budget action plans release; visit the budget planning homepage to view the budget action plans.
  • Process concludes.
