Vision discounts for all employees
Discounts on vision products and services are offered by VSP (the university’s plan administrator) to all university employees, even those who are not enrolled in the UM System Vision Insurance Plan. In addition, separate vision benefit programs are available through University Optical at the University of Missouri-Columbia and through the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry.
VSP is the administrator of the University of Missouri Vision Insurance Plan. Even if you aren’t enrolled in the insurance plan, you can take advantage of the VSP Vision Savings Pass . This discount option is only available to employees and their family if no one in the family is enrolled in the full service vision plan. See pages 6-7 of the Vision Summary Plan Description (SPD) for additional information about the discount; although the majority of this SPD covers the insurance plan, these pages provide information about the discounts available to you even if you haven’t purchased insurance. Opportunities for eligible employees include:
- Access to discounts through a trusted, private-practice VSP doctor
- One rate of $50 for an eye exam (available with purchase of a complete pair of prescription glasses; otherwise, you’ll receive 20% off an eye exam only)
- Special pricing on complete pairs of glasses and sunglasses
- 15% savings on a contact lens exam (discount applies only to exam)
