Scott Curtis is the Research Liaison Librarian for Science & Engineering at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He has an MLS from Emporia State University, an MS in engineering management from The George Washington University, and a BS in physics from the University of Pittsburgh. Before becoming a subject specialist librarian, he worked for 12 years in manufacturing, including assignments in technical writing, quality engineering, manufacturing supervision and management. Prior to his appointment at UMKC, he worked for five years in reference services at the Linda Hall Library of Science, Engineering, and Technology, a world-class independent research library in its fields. His research and service interests center around understanding information use by faculty and students, as well as the provision of leisure reading services at academic libraries. He is actively involved in Scouting with his two sons, and enjoys bird watching, playing music and woodcarving when he can find time.
