Dr. Jon C. Simonsen completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska and proceeded to spend 10 years teaching high school agriculture. He was active in numerous curriculum writing projects over those years and served as a cooperating teacher center for the University of Nebraska and Oklahoma State University. Simonsen later completed a PhD in agricultural and extension education at The Ohio State University. His current role at the University of Missouri includes teaching graduate and undergraduate courses within teacher preparation and leadership education. He serves as director of Undergraduate Studies within his department and directs the Litton Leadership Scholars Program within the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. Simonsen’s research focuses on the teaching of leadership and leadership development within students. Simonsen enjoys college athletics and making trips back to the family farm with his wife Michelle and their elementary age sons Nick and Carter.
