Blake Schofield joined the General Counsel’s office in 2014 and primarily represents the university, its hospitals and clinics, medical schools, and other health professional schools on health care issues.  He provides advice on a range of matters such as licensure, accreditation, Medicare and Medicaid survey and certification, reimbursement, corporate compliance, managed care contracting, HIPAA requirements, clinical integrations and information technology issues.

Before joining the General Counsel’s office, Schofield was an attorney in the Health Law practice group of Stinson Leonard Street LLP in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  His private practice focused on health care transactions and regulatory work.  He advised hospitals and health care businesses on fraud and abuse laws, regulatory compliance and represented them in contract negotiations and significant transactions.

Schofield received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Valparaiso University and a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis.  He is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the Missouri Society of Healthcare Attorneys.
