MU School of Medicine Associate Dean for Rural Health Kathleen Quinn

MU School of Medicine Associate Dean for Rural Health Kathleen Quinn testified to the House Subcommittee of Appropriations – Education, chaired by Representative Lyle Rowland (R-155).  Quinn discussed the need for more providers in rural areas of Missouri, citing the fact that 90 percent of the counties in the state do not have a sufficient number of physicians to serve the area. In partnership with CoxHealth and Mercy Hospital in Springfield, the School of Medicine trains 32 students annually to address the shortage. The committee will submit an appropriations recommendation to the House Budget Committee for further review.
