Missouri S&T Professor Researches ways to Mine on the Moon

"Humanity eventually needs to live in more than just one place, other than the Earth," says Leslie Gertsch. The associate professor of geological engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology says that lunar mining is essential for our species to survive. The moon contains vital compounds, such as water, hydrogen, aluminum and iron. Lunar-mining methods are still being developed, and Gertsh hopes to contribute to the research.
