COLUMBIA, Mo. – Today, the University of Missouri Board of Curators Executive Committee approved 2019 committee appointments. Additionally, in a continuing effort to find administrative efficiencies that make better use of time and resources, Board Chair Jon Sundvold announced changes to the Board’s meeting schedule that will shorten regular Board meetings while also allowing committees to have in-depth discussions about important issues.

“I’m indebted to my fellow curators for their commitment and dedication to the University of Missouri,” Sundvold said. “We have a wonderful variety of skillful individuals on the Board, and we’re able to take advantage of their expertise through these committee assignments.”

Committee chair assignments for 2019 are:

  • Executive Committee: Jon Sundvold
  • Academic, Student Affairs, Research and Economic Development Committee: Darryl Chatman
  • Audit Committee: Jeffrey Layman
  • Compensation and Human Resources Committee: Phillip Snowden
  • External Affairs, Marketing and Advancement Committee: Jamie Farmer
  • Finance Committee: Julia Brncic
  • Governance, Resources and Planning Committee: David Steelman
  • Health Affairs Committee: Maurice Graham

Details about the committee assignments can be found here.

Sundvold also announced that the structure of Board meetings would change for 2019. Beginning in February, regular Board meetings will be held over one day instead of two days. Committee meetings in conjunction with regular Board meetings will be held via conference call the week prior, with the expectation that summaries of the committee meetings will be brought to the full Board during the regular meeting the following week. The External Affairs, Marketing and Advancement Committee will meet every other Board meeting starting in April, and the Governance, Resources and Planning Committee will only meet as needed.

Members of the public and media will be able to listen to the committee meetings via a conference call number that will be made available prior to each committee meeting.

“These changes are designed to streamline our meetings to be more efficient and help all of us use our time and resources better,” Sundvold said. “As always, our meetings will remain open to the public, and I encourage Missouri citizens to tune in to these meetings as issues pertaining to the university are discussed both during the committee and regular meetings. I’m very grateful for the leadership of David Steelman last year, and I’m looking forward to what we all can accomplish together in 2019.”
