History of the Research Board

Since its founding, in 1992, the University of Missouri System Research Board has enhanced the long-term quality and quantity of scholarship throughout the university by supporting meritorious projects on each of its four campuses. With the goal of leveraging external funds by supporting promising new faculty and funding high-quality new initiatives of senior faculty, the research board has awarded $54 million to promising and productive scholars in virtually every department on each of the four UM campuses.

These awards jumpstart an important research journey, often leading to highly successful research programs and discoveries that will impact the state, nation and the world.
